BODY {font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;} Volunteers needed to "fly" a simulator for FAA test May 16 — The AOPA Air Safety Foundation is helping the FAA recruit about 30 volunteer pilots from the mid-Atlantic area to help test a new hardware system that could help minimize runway incursions. Selected volunteers will be asked to taxi and have the opportunity to "fly" an FAA advanced simulator at the FAA Technical Center in Atlantic City, NJ. The entire simulation will take about two hours. Pilots with a variety of certification and experience levels, ranging from new private pilots to veteran ATPs, are needed for the test. Simulator slots at the FAA Technical Center will be available from July 21 through the end of August, 2003. This is a volunteer-only study, and those chosen to participate must provide their own transportation to and from the FAA’s simulator site on the Atlantic City International Airport (ACY). To apply to be a volunteer, call AOPA Aviation Services, 800/AOPA-USA (800/872-2672). Aviation technical specialists will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday - Friday, to take basic information including type of FAA pilot certificate, ratings and flying experience. Volunteers selected for the study will be contacted directly by Titan Corporation, the contractor for this FAA project.
