NORAD exercise planned for Washington D.C.
NORAD Headquarters, Peterson AFB, Colo. - The North American Aerospace
Defense Command will conduct exercise training flights over the National
Capital
region on 21 May and 29 May, as well as on 4 June from approximately 10:30 p.m.
EDT to midnight.
The exercise will involve F-16s flying at low altitudes along the Potomac
river and around Washington D.C. Citizens throughout the area will likely hear
fighter jet engines during the exercise.
NORAD has conducted exercises of this nature throughout the country since the
terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 and the start of Operation Noble Eagle.
For reasons of operational security NORAD will not discuss specific details
of the exercises.
Contact for the exercise is Continental U.S. NORAD Region Public Affairs Maj.
Don Arias or 2nd Lt. Anna Lewicki (850) 283-8657.
