This year's airshow kicks off a year-long celebration of Leesburg Executive Airport’s 50th anniversary. Leesburg, VA (September 4, 2014) – On Saturday, September 27, 2014, the Leesburg Executive Airport will host the 5th annual Leesburg Airshow from 11:00am to 4:00pm. Admission to the Leesburg Airshow is free. Free satellite parking will be available at Tuscarora High School (825 North King Street) or Heritage High School (520 Evergreen Mill Road SE). Complimentary shuttles will run continuously from 10:45am until 4:30pm. Show organizers have arranged for twice as many parking shuttles as last year, to ensure that everyone who arrives prior to 12:30pm will be at the airport before the start of the aerial performances. There will be no general parking at the airport, handicapped access only. Gates for the airshow will open at 11:00am. The airshow’s static display area, located on the airport’s parking ramp, will feature a variety of experimental and antique aircraft. World War II era aircraft on display will include a P-51 Mustang, a SNJ/T-6 Texan, a Grumman TBF Avenger and a DC-3. Another highlight on the ground will be the classic car show, featuring classic rides, custom hot rods, and the latest makes and models. Other tarmac attractions include aviation-related displays, exhibits, and food vendors. Prior to the airshow, at 12:00pm, there will be a demonstration of radio-controlled aircraft. Beginning at 1:00pm, the skies above Leesburg will come alive with daring aerobatic performances. Featured performers include Andrew McKenna in his P-51 Mustang, Douglas “Hollywood” Jackson flying a Japanese A6M Zero replica, Greg Connell piloting his Pitts Model 12 biplane, Scott Francis performing thrilling aerobatics in his MXS, and Art Nalls flying an L-39 Albatross Advanced Jet Trainer. The airshow will be narrated by Hugh Oldham who has performed in and announced at airshows for more than 30 years.
