Hi All,

Especially you Juno 5 users. This is just a friendly reminder to BACKUP
your mail folders, messages, address book, mail assistants, etc., etc. A
couple people have posted to the Junoaccmail.org Message Board recently
with local "mailbox" problems. These folks have been shut out of their
Juno installations entirely because of these problems. I say these
problems, but basically mean a problem with Juno 5's mail and folder
storage database files. The most recent posters have each had rather
large mailboxes, 175-250mb, but we know this happens with database files
much smaller.

Note that in some cases Juno is able to save your mail at least. But the
saved mail is removed from the folders where you had it stored and moves
it into a "Restore" folder where you have to re-sort it.

In the more severe cases, the particular account with the problem is
totally disabled... useless. And you must remove the old database files
and let Juno create a new, BLANK, one for you. You can usually view your
mail by changing the mailbox.bdb file extension to .doc or .rtf and
viewing the file in Word or Wordpad, but it'll be a mess... mixed up
with binary and MIME code. Viewable yes, but an unenjoyable struggle.

So what's the best KNOWN solution to this problem? BACKUP, BACKUP,
BACKUP... if you're running an "UN" backed up Juno 5 installation you're
just playing Russian roulette with your mail and folders.
