Thanks Tim and Cuong. I'll try this. And I've run into an even worse problem
under Windows 10: I changed my account type from "Administrator" to "Owner",
which Windows says allows system-wide access, but now the User Account
Control doesn't even offer the "Yes" option to allow programs, including
itself, to make changes. So I can't even use it to disable UAC, nor can I
access the Accounts under Settings, because it won't allow the program
access to the user. Unless someone has a solution I'll have to reinstall
Windows 10 from scratch! Outch! Also, Windows 10 seems to create a login to
the computer via a Microsoft Account, not a local login when Windows is
being installed. I can't seem to remember if during install there is a way
to force it to create a local login. Any ideas? Otherwise, again, after
install we have to change that from Windows Settings, Accounts menu, to use
a local account after the user account is already set up as a Microsoft
account. Windows 10 seems to be real crap! If only we could keep time stand
still and remain in my youth under Windows 7! Call me a cave man! I don't
care! It's fun all the same!
And since this is the JSonar list, when I was installing Windows 10 I
researched as much as I could to make the computer under Windows 10 more
accessible, more performance driven, and more friendly for the audio
enthusiast user. My notes are attached, but remember I'm so new at all this
so much of it is experimental. Use at your own risk, but please correct any
bad advice I might be offering. Will be very grateful if you guys could
evaluate my notes so we could all benefit better from it. Looking forward to
your feedback, and I'll post fixes after everyone has shared corrections and
we have discussed those where necessary, and we can all then keep the final
notes for our benefit.

Subject: [jsonar] Re: Registering JSonar.dll under Windows 10?
Hi Yamuna,
The only thing that I can think of immediately is that it's a permissions
problem, given that the .dll is within the c:\program files (x86) structure.
Try issuing the same command from within a command prompt that's being run
with administrator permissions and I think you'll be OK.
Cheers.

Subject: [jsonar] Registering JSonar.dll under Windows 10?
Hi all,
I'm trying to manually register jsonar_x64.dll under Windows 10 64-bit
computer, as it did not work during JSonar install, because when I try to
use Control Insert R to run the Jsonar setup wizard, it complains that the
file is not registered.
In the Run command, I use this syntax:
regsvr32 "C:\Program Files (x86)\JSonar\jsonar_x64.dll"
And I also tried using the non 64 DLL as well:
regsvr32 "C:\Program Files (x86)\JSonar\jsonar.dll"
I get the error code like this:
RegSvr32
The module "C:\Program Files (x86)\JSonar\jsonar_x64.dll" was graphic 488
loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80070005.
For more information about this problem, search online using the error code
as a search term.
OK button.
Any advice will be much appreciated.
Thanks.
Yamuna

Windows 10
Here you go.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/fzvk49ncjfl782l/Windows10_SonarHSC.zip?dl=1
These are offered as they are, I am not responsible for support or errors,
etc, I have given these to some of my students and used them slightly and
they seem to work better under windows 10.
I can't remember where I grabbed them,
when I went looking a while back they seemed to not be on the hotspotclicker
site,
but I had them stashed on a drive here, so hope it helps someone.

Hi everyone,--
Some years ago I think I heard that someone built new HSC Sets for the
Sonar suite of instruments and effects plugins for Windows 10, because
for some reasons, all the plugins spots that were asigned to all of
the HSC Sets for them have moved to a different offset position under
Windows 10 systems.
Is this true? Am I remembering correctly? If so where can I get those
new sets from?
I'm thinking about moving my audio machine from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
Not sure if this is a good move for Sonar and all these plugins. Any
advice will be appreciated. I'm thinking of using Jaws 17 for Sonar
and HSC compatibility, but Jaws 2020 which I now have, for everything
else under Windows 10 including that Edge browser they now use.
Or does Jaws 2020 work with Sonar, HSC and the Plugin scripts?
Hope you guys can answer any or some of these questions. Anything will
be appreciated in anticipation of this possible move over to Windows 10.
Thanks good folks.
Kind regards,
Yamuna

Well, under Windows 7 it will continue to work until our hardware
gives up I guess, and till that time that the new hardware we buy in
the form of computers won't support Windows 7 downgrading any more,
but till that day we can still enjoy Sonar as we've known it all
along. I'll tell you, I still do, and yup, I still make music using
Sonar alone with various midi instruments and audio FX plugins! So no
complaints on this end for sure!
It's just that now that everyone's talking about reaper, it does make
me itch to get my hands wet with that too. Not that I actually need
to, it's just a hobby these days anyway, so let's see when I'm settled
after moving country to India and in my new home and settled peacefully. I just might!

I still use sonar all the time, it’s just what I prefer, so I totally
understand the sentiment and I think it should keep being used as
really, the recording program, even with the older version, still does
most of the things that we need to do.

I see you 'grin'.
Well, sadly, sonar is fading out, just a few of us old timers who
still hanging on by our fingernails, but I am spending 99 percent of
my working time these days with reaper.
I still so much prefer the way sonar deals with midi, but because of
the increasing difficulty
using sonar with windows 10, both NVDA and jaws are leaving access
for sonar behind, the new NVDA doesn't support the app module, so
have to use a portable older ver of NVDA to run sonar, and for newer
jaws you have to install JSonar manually, it's doable but rather a
big pain, will the day come when we can't use it at all any more?
I hope someone picks up the new band labs up to date sonar and makes
it accessible, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
But wow, what a great legacy, a great run, did we not make some fine
music with this great program?
The good thing is that with reaper many of the things we loved in
sonar can still be used, so all is not lost.
And I'll use sonar as long as I can, I'm in till the last gasp 'grin'.

Hi everyone at JSonar,
I'm just checking if mail is working at JSonar list. Since I removed
my subscription from my old E-mail address and re-subscribed using
another E-mail address, I notice no mail has come through since then.
I also posted the below mail to the list but I did not even get it
echoed back to me from the list.
Thanks and please ignore unless you are inclined to send me a
private one jus to say it's coming through. Thanks good people.

Subject: Looking for blind musicians and producers in India
Hi everyone,
Please can someone advise me on where I can post the following
request to reach the most amount of blind musicians and producers.
I am moving to India to a city called Mayapur. The closest major
city is called Kolkata. I wish to get in touch with as many blind
musicians in the area as close to Mayapur as possible.
This is very important for me. Please forgive my request to cross
post this to as many blind musician groups you may know of, from the
Logic Audio accessibility group, to the Repers accessibility, all
across the Windows and the Mac Voiceover platforms. I will
appreciate this favour as I am not necessarily subscribed to a group
and then I cannot post to it, so if you are then you can post on my
behalf. I will truly appreciate this little favour.
Kind regards,
Yamuna
