Mike N

Just to get back to normal.

John Hill, does control at Bristol now and again, and I started out at
Gloustershire, still my favourite.

We don't do rugby league down here, but in Bath & Gloucester we have two of
the best union clubs in the country - but I guess we have all heard of Hull KR,
and of course the legendry Eddie Waring who made the tv side of the sport so
popular back in the 1970s

The final against Hull was much like us against Palace in the semi-final.
Over 90 we were second best, had it gone to 120 mins we would have won, as with
Palace in the semi final. Still, that is gone we both have very different
reasons to look forward to next year

Incidentally, if they ( your board ) offer their fees to us, one of my my ex
bosses Steve Lansdown ( City chairman ) would give his bit to charity - he's
kinda worth a bob or two!

  Mike

I have to agree with your analysis of the footie. For the last 30 minutes I
was saying to that if Bristol City score, they would go on to win, the Hull
players were almost out on their feet, they would never have survived extra
time.

While at UWE I spent three years living in Bristol, first in Bedminster then
up near Abbey Wood station (where I lodged with a nurse). I have a number of
friends still in the city particularly around Knowle and Fishponds. I have
fond memories of my time there and try to keep in touch with old friends from
my days there. Oddly enough, Saturday’s events seemed to trigger flurry of
e-mails from them!

I hope the Hull board follow the tradition of donating their Wembley fees to
the losing side, I’d like to see City, Bristol that is, follow us up - even if
it is as we go back down!

  Paul

PS Our Rovers won on Sunday too, Hull Kingston that is!

Please don’t pick Deaf Bettie. The last trip she got taken on resulted in
several passengers needing hospital treatment for head injuries. I‘ve told her
to get a digital hearing aid but she insists the ear trumpet is just fine. It’s
a lethal weapon in confined spaces..

  Thanks Paul

Your local footie team did Hull and its people real credit

It was a great day out, not much in it whatever the papers say.The Tigers
deserved all the appaluse from those of us from Bristol who stayed on till the
end, and both clubs can be really proud of the way all the fans conducted
themselves.

All the best for next year, see you in 2009

The pensioners are always welcome to a day out, I only charge enough to cover
the fuel, landing fees etc, provided they take their turn in the galley

Can I add to the welcomes Mike N. and I make no apologies for my local
footie teams efforts on Saturday (clue, I live in what used to be a North East
fishing port).

If you want flight attendants, you’ll have to visit the local pub tomorrow
lunchtime, they do a cheap pensioners lunch and if you offer a couple of them a
free day out for making a few sandwiches for the young ‘uns they’ll usually do
it for nowt. As often as not they’ll pay for the bread, etc. too!

Just to add to the Mike x 3, Tom, Tom, Frank, Frank confusion there are also
2 P. Reynolds, Phil and Paul, I’m the latter.

Note to Bones: I know JHB now has a Manx registration but the Mike
registration is phonetic not literal, our crew don’t have to actually be called
Mike!

  Gentlemen,

May I ask for your attention for a moment – and could someone kindly wake Tom
up in the corner..

I would like to welcome Mike Nicholls to our merry band today. Mike hails
from Bristol and will be joining our ranks as JHB214. I hope you will make him
welcome here and give him the help and advice our airline is well known for.

I’ll give Mike a tour of the JHB offices in a minute – Portakabin’s don’t
take long to get round – but in the meantime could we find a spare locker for
him. The one on the top row with the stack of lurid magazines will do (and I
know who they belong to so can they be found a new home please). I hope you
will all introduce yourselves although it make take time to get used to Mike,
Mike, John, John, Tom, Tom, Frank, Frank....

Make yourself at home Mike and pull up a spare chair if you can find it.
Ignore the dog in the hallway and it will ignore you. Contrary to appearances
it isn’t dead. Training manuals are now locked away in my office after I found
several with most of their pages missing. I know it was a cold winter but I am
sure alternative fuel for the stove could have been found by my resourceful
crews...

I hope you will feel at home here.
