Depends how high your were. The CTA base near Alcester is 2500ft so if you were below that you should have been fine. You would have had to go further east than Tanworth or Henley in Arden before you got into lower airspace. bones bones@xxxxxxx -----Original Message----- From: jhb-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jhb-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Gerry Winskill Sent: 03 February 2011 16:26 To: JHB Restricted Subject: [jhb] Mea Culpa ! I've just had my knuckles rapped and rightly so. I've just flown Ronaldsway to Alcester, VFR, in ASv6 weather. I wasn't using voice and my flightplan contained the usual "remaining outside controlled airspace"; only I didn't! When approaching Alcester, over Redditch, it was obvious I was going to have to use RWY 18. I got sloppy and instinctively flew a LH circuit and that took me just inside the manned Birmingham zone D boundary. The Lockyears notes should mention this but don't. I should have spotted what would happen and flown a right hand circuit. Even better, I should have flown a RH circuit AND contacted Birmingham Tower, to put his mind at rest. I can recommend the route though. EGNS to Llandudno then direct to Alcester. It takes you over Nantclwyd, Rednal etc. Gerry Winskill
