Hi,
I haven't encountered that problem with Windows Defender. It seems to work
alright for me. I'm using Jaws 6.2 by the way. Do you have any other
applications that run at the same time such as Norton Scan or anything like
that? Norton is natorious for causing slowdown or hangups with Jaws. Does
this only happen with the auto-scan or does this happen also when you try a
manual scan with windows Defender? Another thing you might check is if a
screen saver is automatically loaded when your computer id idle for a long
period of time. This can also cause Jaws to run kind of funny espcially is
you have something scheduled to run while you're away from your computer.
The combination of the scan, and screen saver running at the same time might
be an issue. Try turning the screen saver off.

After windows defender runs at noon every day, jaws is very slow and
doesn't speak. After I hit insert f4 and unload and reload it it works
fine. Some how windows defender seems to hang jaws up a bit. DO others
find this and what do you think.
