I would say it's a good idea.  I've found that responsiveness is actually
improved slightly, and there are a few interesting new features. However, if
none of these features apply to you then I suppose you don't need to
download the update.

Hi I was just curious about the lists' imphasis on if the jaws 5.0 update
is a good thing to download yet or not.
I have been hearing not so good things about it, like that for example, I
heard on one list that freedom scientific has altered the eudora scripts so
that half way down a message, jaws stops talking and I was wondering if
that were true or not.
Any help with this would be appreciated.
