Good luck.

I don't have a problem getting the folder and its sub folders onto the cd on the XP machine. The problem comes when I put the CD into the Vista machine, it won't let me copy the folder containing the sub folders to the clip board. I can copy the sub folders one at a time but not the main folder that contains the sub folders. I have tried this using both a CD and a floppy as my Vista machine does have a floppy drive. Hi Tom,

I don't know why Vista is different either, but I suggested a thumb drive, because it worked for me. I understand that you don't have one though.

Have you tried another cd? Maybe the one you have is bad. I also think, but I am not sure, that you have to first format the cd so it can be used as a floppy disc.

Good luck and God Bless,

Wren

p.s. If you figure it out would you let me know off list?

Thanks! I don't have a thumb drive but I have done the same thing several times over the years using CD's or floppy disks. I don't understand why Vista is different. Tom ----- Original Message ----- From: "Wren Langley" <wrenlangley@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hi,

I have the same situation you have. If you have a thumb drive you can go to your xp computer. Then copy the folder you want to move to the clipboard with control c. When the copying process is done go to your thumb drive and paste the folder with control v to your thumb drive. Once that has completed, take the thumb drive to your vista computer, and when you have the folders on the drive showing, copy the folder to your clipboard with control c, and then paste it where you want to on your vista computer using control v.

If you have any other questions, or if I did not explain something correctly, please email me at

wrenlangley@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I hope tis was not too detailed for you.

God Bless,

Wren

I am trying to transfer folders from a computer with the XP operating system to a computer with Vista Home premium operating system. I can copy a folder with all its files and send it to the CD burner in XP take the cd to the Vista machine and open the cd and see the folder but Vistal will not let me select and copy the folder to the clip board. It will let me select and copy the individuals files however. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Tom
