I'm using Google toolbar to block adds. That's all I use it for and don't use
the scripts.
What problems are you having when it comes to finding things on Google? It
might be the way you are structuring your searches.

what is the going opinion about the google toolbar. do the scrips work well?
is it easier than using regular google? i'm having a hard time finding
