lightweight text editor, accessible?

Hello,
I'm using jfw 10 and am looking for a new text editor, something
that opens files as fast as windows notepad, but definitely has more
features. I've tried edsharp, but at least on my machine there's a lag of
about fifteen seconds on startup time. I've heard about notetab and
notepad++ but have no information. If anyone knows about these or other
editors accessible but lightweight please let me know.
