the only thing you can know is that your computer has posted the message to
be sent. If the message window closes and you don't see an error, your
message has been posted for distribution by your pc.

Subject: knowing when message is sent

When I send a message, is there any way to know whether it has actually been
sent other than going into the sent folder? My server is somewhat unstable
as it is Direcway which uses a satellite system; fast but quirky when it
rains, etc. I am using JAWS 5.1 and XP Home if this helps. Thank you.
