I use Word 2000 and JAWS 8. In spell checking a document, if I have ignored
a word or two and wish to re-spellcheck the document, how do I accomplish
this. Simply hitting F-7 only informs me that the spell check is complete,
when in fact it is not.

To recheck the document, hit alt+t, then o, and navigate to the spelling and grammar page, where you will find a checkbox for recheck document. I don't know, because I now have Word 2007 so can't check, but perhaps when you hit f7 you can tab to an options button within that dialog that informs you that the spell check is complete, but if that can't happen, the first route will
work.

Hi Jane,

You just have to fool Spell Check, because it has no way to know you've
changed your mind about the words you said to ignore the first time though. As far as spell check is concerned, that was the operation. The way I get around this when the same thing happens is to select whatever you've spell
check, whether it's just a paragraph or the entire document, Control X to
cut to Clipboard, and immediately Control V to paste it back into the
document.

Now Word and Spell Check will react as if it's brand new copy you're asking to be scrutinized, and this time those words you skipped over will come up
again to be corrected.

If this trick makes you afraid you'd lose your work by accident, just be
very careful and don't do anything or certainly copy or cut anything else
until you paste the material right back in. Then do a control S to save,
just so you feel secure. I do that. Now spell check again.

Hope this helps.

Get out of the document by hitting alt F4 and forget it for a little while. You might have to reboot the machine. Now go back and spell check and your
former errors will be pointed out. Judith

Hi Tom,

JAWS 9 is definitely causing the copied material from the body of an
E-mail message to be different. I made an online purchase and, when I
received my receipt via E-mail, I copied it to my clipboard; however, when I
pasted this into a Word document, JAWS wasn't reading the entries in the
fields, just the field names.

Then, someone suggested that JAWS now treats columns differently, as if
this were a spread sheet. So, I Tabbed after reading a field name and the
entry, such as my name or the price, was there. When I unloaded JAWS 9 and
went back to JAWS 8, everything worked the way it used to work.

   Hope this helps,

   Don

After copying text from the body of a message in Outlook Express to a MS
Word document I am hearing things like "graphic spacer underline 1 x 1 dot gif" and "graphic table underline corner underline l 10 x 36 dot gif" when
trying to read the word document. What is this and how do I get rid of
it? I tried experimenting with the verbosity settings in Word but was not able to change whatever it is. Apparently these lines are not really there
as I can't copy them or even navigate them one letter at a time.

Just to add to Yardbird's advice when you cut text to recheck it place 3
stars beneath the area where you cut a piece of text and this will be your
marker as to where to paste the copy. Judith

Try this, go to control panel, to accessibility options, press enter. Shift tab to where jfw says "keyboard," and right arrow to display tab. Now tab to cursor options blink rate and set it to 63 percent. Tab to "cursor options width," and make sure it is at 0 percent. I had similar problems with a lot of programs because settings in this area of my computer had been "bleeped" with by someone who figured they had better design than the owner of it so they ... bleeped with it. :) You can bet when I found out that I ... said a
few bleeps back to him, for sure. High contrast is also unchecked in this
configuration.
I hope this helps someone, was sure glad when I found it.

Hi Sandra,

What version of word and jaws are you using that you are having these
problems?

Are you having this problem any other place?

Two possible remedies for the situation:

1. Press insert + esc to refresh the screen and then see if the words
speak
properly.

2. If that does not work, highlight the word, press f7 to spell check it,
and see if it now speaks properly.

I too experienced these problems in outlook express, not word 2003 as much and this is how I used to fix it. Jaws 9 seems to have fixed this problem
for me.

Good luck on finding the answers you seek.

Rich

Hi, does anyone have any idea of why JAWS might leave letters out of the
middle of words? I use word as my processing program and I have been
having
trouble with letters missing from the middle of words.
