I had problems like these with earlier versions of JAWS that were correctly
blamed on video driver incompatibility. I understand video drivers no
longer cause problems for recent versions of JAWS, including 11. Other
listers may well give you useful suggestions, but either way, I'd urge you

dear listers
using windows xp and office 2003 plus jaws 11, i always face an issue that
when i open a document in an office editor, either in outlook new message
editor or office word, when i write text and return to the written line,
jaws just says blank instead of reading the line. as far as i could learn,
when the cursor exists it can not read well. when i activate jaws cursor
instead of pc or virtual pc cursors, it can read text but it is not always
useful because it is not bound just to the text area but to all the text it
can see in one line.
this problem exists in other edit areas too like in gmail edit boxes or
editor, sometimes in wordpad or notepad. for example when i write down a
text in "to" edit box of gmail, i cannot return back to it by arrows t to
see if i have written correctly or not.
