woe, long sentence! Anyway, if A D O B E won't work, do you have a scanning/OCR package like Openbook or Kurzweil K1000? Both programs can print the .pdf file virtually - i.e. to graphics files - then perform OCR on the resulting images. If not, I have Nero 6 and all its documentation, so I could easily do this and email you the results in whatever format you want.
