I too have listened to the presentation on main menu and am looking forward
to the release of Jaws 8.
I have been using the Daniel realspeak solo voicefor some time. There were
problems using it with Jaws which FS said were due to that particular
synthesizer, not with Jaws itself. I would be interested to know before
going ahead and buying Jaws 8 if the problems have been resolved.
There were three main problems. Firstly, because the realspeak solo voices
don't support pitch change there was no way of denoting capitalisation.
Secondly Jaws wasn't handling punctuation at all well, in many cases not
seeing it at all. Thirdly there was the problem of Jaws wrongly seeing
abbreviations, for instance, if there was a date ending in st, such as 21st
Jaws would read it as 21 street. There are many other examples. If Eric at
FS sees this it would be good if he could let us know if the problems have
been resolved.
