Hi Christine & all,Here's a cool method 2 creat that shortcut to kill JAWS. This works with Windows XP pretty well. Have your forcus on the desktop first. Then press the application key to open the context menue that you get when you rightclick on the desktop. optionally use the right mouse button, assigned to the *key of your computer's keyboard to get here. find the "new" menue item by uparrowing two times. Anyhow, once you are there, find new shortcut list item. press enter & in the edit field you get in the wizard that follows enter the following
%windir%\system32\taskkill.exe /f /im jfw.exe Hope this works fine with Wista too. Anyway I hate Wista & don't expect my assistance in Wista related issues. XP do well enough for me untill I start working with my Brandnew copy of Windows 7 that is in times to come.

hi,Sorry to be dence, do I just type the whole line as the icon? This is a simple taskkill command to surgically remove JAWS with no prompts. Once removed I then launch JAWS again with Alt+Ctrl+J. Saved me a lot of grief. The command for my machine is: %windir%\system32\taskkill.exe /f /im jfw.exe Dave----- Original Message ----- From: "Christine Menges" <c.menges@xxxxxxxxxxx>To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, June 12, 2009 15:44 Subject: Re: jaws 10 looses focus Hi, I shut my internal mouse off for that reason and it didn't change a thing. I thought I was going crazy. This problem is very annoying. I have jaws 10 with windows xp.On a slightly separate issue, sometimes jaws locks the key board up and only the tab key will work but not the alt or the control or other functionkeys. If I don't have sighted assistance to get rid of jaws, because ofcourse the alt f4 won't work, I have to just do a hard boot. This seems tohappen after I lose focus a couple of times. Does this happen to anyone else? Does that make any sense? Doesn't happen to me except very rarely with JAWS 9. Perhaps thisis also related to the video chip involved? I do always have (and will probably always have) the issue with sticky keys, such as Alt or Ctrl being "stuck" and needing to press rapidly to clear.Iguess this was never resolved since back in the days of JAWS 3 and 4.
