In JFW 5.0, there is an option pertaining to repeated characters that
may be at work in your case.
This option takes precedent over your punctuation setting.
You can set it to read the first 3, 4, 5, or 6 characters, or you can
set it simply to count the repeated characters without saying them.
Unfortunately, I saw no option to ignore repeated characters.
If you set JFW to count repeated characters, it will say, for example,
"7 periods" when encountering 7 periods in a row, such as: .......
This setting can be annoying in certain contexts.

Subject: how to stop jaws from repeating punctuation marks

I have Jaws set to no punctuation and it does fine until there are
several marks in a row--like it will say dot dot dot and exclamation,
etc. I have 4.02, 4.51 and 5. Any way to stop the repetition?
