gmail problem

Hi,

I had to reformat my machine and hence, I lost my mails.  I wish to retrieve 
them from "all mail" in gmail.  How do I do it.  I selected them and moved them 
to inbox.  but  did not help.

Also, how do I change the number of mails displayed on gmail webmail?
