Using the latest version of JAWS with Windows XP home and Outlook Express
6.0. The virtual PC does stay on when I'm reviewing my messages. I
usually open OE, delete all the messages I don't wish to read, and then read
through the rest, hitting the delete key to delete the current message and
then open the next one.

Most often when I do this now, my messages do indeed open. And, most of
them open right away. However, say about every twentieth message or so,
although it does eventually open, it might take it fifteen or twenty seconds
for JAWS to start the reading of the message. This is still true, even if
the message only contains one or two lines with no quoted material at the
end, as well as for longer messages, although the longer ones might take a
few seconds longer to open than the shorter ones. Now, when I say longer
messages, I'm talking about ones with lots of links where there has been
a lot of quoting, as those could take around thirty seconds to open, give or
take, while the shorter ones might take fifteen to twenty seconds to open.

Subject: empty virtual buffer in IE and OE

I changed the subject because this is important.

I've noticed that the virtual buffer will be empty sometimes when I am
reading messages in I.e. and use the delete key to move to the next message.
The message won't read automatically and the virtual pc cursor is missing.
I can rout the regular pc cursor to the document and see text there. So, I
think Jaws thinks it is editing a document like it is in forms mode.

Next time you get a blank virtual buffer, press the plus key on the numpad
and see if it says pc or virtual pc.
