Christine, Earlier you asked about having a sound when you open windows in general, and the sounds and audio properties (Win XP) is the correct place to do this. Now you have added this condition that you want a sound to play when a particular title shows up on the screen when focused. I think you need to do the following: 1. First make sure that your verbosity is set to announce application titles when they open. This is configuration manager in the default configuration, verbosity settings, and adjusting that particular level of verbosity. 2. Then you should open the dictionary manager, for the default dictionary, and in the "add" field enter the exact title of your application window. Then in the "replacement word" field enter whatever you want. Then tab to the sounds button and assign a sound. Save and save and save. I've never done this myself, but it seems that it should work. Good luck. This is important because in one application the f2 key retreaves information but on my phone application it hangs up the phone. I accomplished this with the jaws dictionary manager, but I don't remember how I was able to properly assign it. thanks, christine----- Original Message ----- From: Mike & Barbara To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, April 20, 2010 10:37 PM Subject: Re: assigning sounds to windows title Hi Christine; To assign a sound to a job / task you have to go into the control panel / sounds & audio devices / sounds page. Take care. My system totaly reset itself and I don't remember how I did this. I am using jfw 7.0 (only at work) I've tried selecting the title and adding it to the dictionary. This doesn't seem to work. Can anyone refresh my memory?
