Subject: any Kurzweil users on this list

Hi everyone I have Kurzweil 1000 version 8. I had to uninstall kurzweil because I had a problem, then I reinstalled it. Now my Hp scanner isn't working. But kurzweil is working. Why is Kurzweil working and my scanner isn't? Don't they work together.
