I forget which version this feature was introduced, but you can use the customized punctuation option.

1. When focus is in Outlook, press JAWS key plus the number six.

2. When the configuration manager pops up, press alt plus s, then p.

3. You'll find your cursor in a list view. Pres shift plus period for the greater than sign.

4. Once the greater than sign is selected, press alt plus l to have it spoken only when speak punctuation is set to all.

5. Press enter to close the customize punctuation dialog.

6. Press alt plus f4 to close the configuration manager.

7. Press y to save and exit the configuration manager.

That should do it.

When you have a message open with the greater symbols in them do the
following
1. Press insert and the letter D to open the dictionary manager
2. tab to add and press enter.
3. Type in the greater symbol
4. tab to replacement word
5. just press the space bar
6.Then tab to ok and press enter
7. press alt F4 to close the dictionary and save the changes.

I have been using this for 2 years now.

I use NOD32, and you must turn the graphic mode off. You can try it out. Go to
