Margaret,
I know the feature you're describing, but in my experience (I have no idea
why a difference in operating system or Jaws version ought to have any
bearing on this, do you?), it usually finds new definitions and downloads
and installs them. when I do the web update number manually, sometimes ther
are new definitions, and sometimes not. I've never felt misinformed or
betrayed by this program in the way you describe. Hope it starts working
more dependably for you. In truth, it's a good idea to run it at least once
a week-- AdAware itself, I mean-- and that's about how often I check for
updates, too. It's only a few minutes' bother, so I don't hesitate to do
this.

Daniel,

I've only run Ad-Aware once on my new XP machine and may not run
into the same problem I had with my Win 98 se one, but I found that
when Ad-Aware would tell me my definitions were n days old and ask me
if I wanted to check for updates and I told it to go ahead and check,
that it would always tell me that none were available. However, if I
said "no" to the automated check and did a manual check instead, that
I would get a new definitions.

It didn't always do this, but has been going on here for several
months now. This is with JFW 6.0.

I need to run it again soon and will see if the same behavior
persists on the XP.

scripts

Moti,
Don't forget the importance of doing a Web update at least once in
awhile.
With the scripts, the button for this can be tabbed to, and the
controls
found with the tab key and activated with the space bar. Reading the
messages about what's going on can require Insert B or the Jaws
cursor, but
it's not hard to do.

I say this only because running AdAware without updating its
definitions
isn't bound to be as useful as one might prefer.

Hi Stephen,

The scripts for Ad aware personal se 1.05, work for me.
In Jaws 6.10 and with Jaws 5.10. You have only to start the scan by
tabbing
to scan now button and space bar on it.
Then, you can use ctrl+n for next button and continue the process as
usual.
Again, it works well for me with Jaws 66.10.1006u-ilm version.

I hope it helps

Moti
