access bridge and jaws

I am attempting to set up access bridge and jre 1.5.4. When running the
install program access bridge reports that it can not find jre on my
computer. I do have java installed. I tried to install access bridge
manually but do not know how to invoke the "set path" command in windows XP
home. Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated.
