Hi,

The package you're talking about is Microsoft One Care which they do charge for on a yearly basis. However, Windows Defender will intigrate with One Care and can be downloaded seperatly. The Windows Defender software is free though. I was fortunate to get the Microsoft One Care package when they were running a promotion. I was able to get it at $19.99. I think it costs $49 now. Oh by the way, I did say "boot" in that last line of my previous message. Ah, you gotta love that Jaws accent.

Hi Michael,

A couple of comments on this. First, I thought, from all I've read about
the new Microsoft Defender suite of protective services, that though it may
have been free during a Beta test period, it's going to be about $50 a year
to keep updated. Or is that yet a slightly different new Microsoft service
that includes Defender but also some other things? Also, the slang
expression for "also" is "to boot," not "to hoot," unless you were joking
around or having a bad typing day and rushing through your spell check, as
happens to me every day.

It's nice to know that Defender works nicely with Jaws. Thanks for the
report.

It works well too, both in detecting spyware and usability with Jaws. And it's free to boot!

It is anti-spyware.
Read all about it here

Hi All, I've seen Windows defender mentioned here and on some other lists, what does it do? And where can I get it if I decide to?

Thanks.
Troy
