Thanks for that. At first I thought it was just the usual stuff about starting narrator etc. I've never bothered to click on the button to use the computer without a display but I was surprised to find that it does give you other options such as turning on audio description (not sure when this will work though other than for DVDs or some online content), it turns off unnecessary animations (assuming JAWS does this on startup), and also gives you the option of loading either narrator or JAWS. Go to control panel; select "Ease of Access". A window will open in which you can start narrator, make text larger, etc. Also in this window is the entry for "Use the Computer Without a Display (Optimize for Blindness)". I'm not sure if it actually turns the display off (something you can do with the monitor power button anyway), but you can set it to use narrator, get an audio description of videos on the screen, turn off unnecessary animations, etc. There is also a selection in the window for "Make it easier to focus on tasks", in which you can (among other things) remove background images on the monitor, and set the computer so you can turn on toggle keys to hear a tone when you press CAPS LOCK, NUM LOCK, OR SCROLL LOCK. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more information. They also said this makes it a bit quicker. Does anybody know where this is please as I couldn't find it in the obvious places. Thanks Peter
