Hi Peter,My brother got his sound card to work. First you download and save the software file for the sound card. Then you right click on properties. Somewhere there is a compatability mode. You have to select Windows 7 and then the card will work. I may not have given you quite all the steps, but if anyone ever wants the fix, my brother can send it to me, and I could forward it on.
Thanks for your help and input. God Bless, Wren p.s. Did you need need sighted help to install windows 7?---- Original Message ----- From: "Peter" <peterholdstock@xxxxxxx>

Disapointing to hear of hardware that works with Vista but not Windows 7 out of the box. Sounds a bit strange, but I know nothing about these things.peter -------------------------------------------------- From: "Wren Langley" <wrenlangley@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, January 14, 2009 9:42 PM To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: Windows 7 QuestionHi again,My brother went over lots of things with me concerning Windows 7. He can't get his sound to work, and I was wondering if any of you would mind telling me what you are using for sound? Onboard, separate sound card, and if so what card and what drivers? His card is a creative x-fi elete pro. It works with Vista. Thanks for any information and help. Windows 7 sounds like it will be really nice to use.My brother said there is a little arrow that you can put the cursor on, and that opens the place where all your system tray icons are. I can find out more about it if you want.God Bless, Wren----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris Hallsworth" <christopherhallsworth71@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, January 14, 2009 10:28 AM Subject: Re: Windows 7 QuestionJAWS works reasonably well with Windows 7, however you can't access the list of system tray icons, and some things don't work as well. Rumour has it that a free update will be released in March and that will have Windows 7 as one of its new or improved features. For now though the current build of JAWS will suffice. The only way in which he's able to get to it is to make it a recent item and arrow down from the search box.Ben -- JFW related links: JFW homepage: http://www.freedomscientific.com/Scripting mailing list: http://lists.the-jdh.com/listinfo.cgi/scriptography-the-jdh.comJFW List instructions: To post a message to the list, send it to jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxxTo unsubscribe from this mailing list, send a message to jfw-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.Archives located at: //www.freelists.org/archives/jfwAlternative archives located at: http://n2.nabble.com/JAWS-for-Windows-f2145279.htmlIf you have any concerns about the list, post received from the list, or the way the list is being run, do not post them to the list.
