Chris,
I also have the current version of Winamp installed, and I'm not sure what
you meanby one thing you say, below. You say that all previous versions of
Winamp are screen reader friendly except for Version 3, and then go on to
say that many users, sighted and blind alike, are unhappy that version 3
can't be found anywhere for download anymore.
This sounds contradictory. Is it not what you actually meant?

exception of version 3 work beautifully with screenreaders. and you
can't even find winamp3 anywhere on the net anywhere, it's a huge
disappointment, even to sighted folks.
So go ahead and download and install it. but when you do, be sre to
choose the clasic skin for slower pc's and improved
accessibility. If you do that, you will be fine.
