Web Rebates (was Re: service pack 2)

That stupid thing may show up in your Add/Remove programs.  HTH

check your start menu, under programs and see if you have a program
called 
webrebates, let me know if you have it.  I only say this because you
mention 
web rebates and all the symptoms of that program are there, some
programs 
not working, slowing down machine,  just let me know, I might be way
off 
here.
