A USB synthesizer enables JAWS to connect to an external voice output so that the PC's soundcard can be used exclusively for other sound output, such as streaming audio feeds and CD playback. The alternative to an external synthesizer, such as one connected through a USB port, would be to install two soundcards, one for use by the speech program and the other for all non-JAWS-related sound. If only one soundcard is available and no external synthesizer, JAWS will speak from the same source as all other audio material, which can be a very bad idea. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Hannah Day" <hannahday1989@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

You can then set the default sound device to be the internal soundcard, and JAWS, along with any other sounds will go through that internal sound card. There we go, no messing with the JFW.ini file!Best regards, orhan deniz E-mail: orhan.deniz63@xxxxxxxxx MSN/Windows Live ID: orhan1793@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Skype: KVP2008 Aim: KVP2008 Blog: http://worldandother.wordpress.com Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/kvp2008 Last.fm! I want to DJ with my Vista laptop and I want the music to come out of the USB sound card and the speech to come from the internal sound card. 1. Are the instructions still the same to tell Jaws to use the built in sound card for output using Vista? 2. When using 2 sound cards in the past, I have had problems in the past with jaws not retaining the sound card when the windows default output device was changed (under XP). Has anybody tried this and how were your results?
