Well, I tried it again but, alas, to no avail. JAWS still stedfastly sticks to it's opinion that nothing was selected even though everything *WAS* properly selected. I really have no clue other than a couple of days ago Crystal changed the overall text size through the control panel to "medium". I ran JAWS through a good test with the larger font and most things seemed to work - except - the blamed spell checker. It was simply out somewhere in left field and would not give me any feedback as to what word was wrong or what suggestions it might have. We changed the text size back to "small or normal" and everything seemed to go back to the usual quirks - except - this is about when JAWS started the "nothing selected" thing. I also think I got a Microbloat update along in here so, who knows! When I pressed control-a a second time, JAWS said, "Unselected." this was in an email message. Perhaps it works in XP, which I have, but not Windows 7, which I know you've advanced to. The only other explanation must be that I'm not an Anasazi! _____ From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Cy Selfridge Sent: Tuesday, June 15, 2010 9:09 AM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: JAWS latest trick Hi Adrian, Yes, I gave it a try but nothing changed. Now, even more interesting is the fact that when I am in an email and press ctrl+A I do hear "selected" but when in a folder such as "deleted items" or whatever I hear (nothing selected? In both cases the keystroke actually works properly although JAWS does not think so. (LOLLOLLOL) Oh well, maybe JAWS V12? I just did, and she's right. I think CTRL+A always selects everything. In Outlook when I press ctl+a to select all messages in the folder JAWS dutifully reports that "Nothing selected" - but - when I do the shift+delete and then confirm guess what, everything *WAS* selected and all is gone. Just thought I would mention the misinformation so someone is not lulled into thinking that nothing war really selected and makes an unfortunate discovery. (LOL) Cy, The Anasazi jus
