It should open in "compatibility mode". It should be readable just as any other
MS-Word document.
Are you able to write and read other MS-Word files in Word 2007? If yes, then
there is something wrong with the Word 2003 document you're trying to open.

I have word 2007 and received a word file as an attachment using word 2003.
Is there a way to read this document with word 2007? The document opens but it
is blank. Any help would be appreciated.
