Problem with text aloud

Hi all,
I hope someone can help.
Any time I try and open a text file in something like txt pal my text aloud
wants to read it. At At least I think that's what is happening.
Can someone tell me what to do to make this stop?It doens't happen if I'm
using hj pad.
