OT- I lost my scanner

Hi all,
I know this isn't related to jfw, but I needed help from someone that knows
about computers.
I went to use my scanner last night and it shows that it doesn't detect a
scanner.
I have used it a couple of weeks ago and it worked fine.
I don't remember if I had used it after I installed Adshield and Spybot
search and distroy.
Could that have caused any problems.
Oh, I did check to see if it was plugged in. LOL
