Hi Richard, I'm not sure what you're explaining here. First of all, Control C is simply the keyboard command for the Copy command in that menu, and Control X is the keyboard equivalent of the Move item. Exactly the same thing. Sure, if someone really wants to bother opening the menu and doing these things from there, it's a free country. But even I, who often encourages Jaws users to explore their menus for a sense of program design and context, feels that in this case, it's a bit silly to bother with the menu commands. I don't think anyone much does that. But as I say, it's not against the law, God forbid I should get flamed for having an opinion. And the distinction you explain between copy and move is what anyone is supposed to know is the difference between copy and move. Copy puts something into the Clipboard, and there it stays unless displaced by something else (unless you're using the handy-dandy Jaws multiple copy Clipboard doobie with Windows C instead of Control C), and you can paste it as many times as you like from the clipboard. Until you displace it. "Move," of course, means that the item goes to the clipboard but is deleted from there, and from its source, as soon as you paste it. But, Richard, this is just the ordinary information about how this works in Windows. It's not a special Jaws trick or esoteric detail. So I'm not sure where you're coming from. It's just how these things work. poasSent: Monday, October 23, 2006 7:37 PM Subject: Re: Moving Files Hi, Also please note that when using windows explorer under the edit menu there is both a selection for copy to folder and move to folder options. Using the control + x command will just put the file on the clipboard until you paste it somewhere. Then it will remove it from where it originally was. Both ways work. Just what the user feels comfortable with. The keystroke of control + shift + v seems to only work in OE and probably works in outlook too. Woke up late and haven't had enough coffee. The keystroke I gave is indeed the one you're trying to remember. But if it works in Windows Explorer, then that'll be a surprise to me. Of course Control X is how you move selected files and folders there. Sorry. Wasn't thinking clearly. Can someone tell me what the keystroke was?
