earlier reviews say that the microsoft anti spy tool does work, its just
not as good as the competition or the hype around it.

more recent reviews in a p c publications placed it near last.

because its behind the free add aware why bother using it is my view on it.

if you want 2 such free programs then consider search and destroy as a
second, also free, and also much higher rated than the microsoft product.

in fact it rated higher than the free add aware, but requires some
knowledge to use its advance more powerful searching features.

smart computing rated the m s product in the low fifties, while most
products rated in the review where in sixties and seventies range.

comes down to this its not a bad idea to have a commercial product and a
freeby.

add aware pro, pest patrol, and web root products seem to rate hi in this
review and also by consumer reports.

the order can change based on the review, this is due in part to the
testing criteria.

the test are getting better and more thurough.

still their is no body governing the number of spy ware as their is with
viruses.

so it really depends on what the review throws at the software how it rates.

i also suspect as a result of these newer reviews that the products will
see improvement.

i battled lob dot com on a friends system a few months back and none of the
freebies could delete it.

one reason i think a commercial product is not a bad idea.

another interesting thing, the engine m s is using is also used by another
company in their anti spy software product.

that product rated slightly higher than the m s product.

though it also was in the bottom third.
