No, this proves not to be correct, although we all thought it was. When
you've entered the letter in the shortcut field, press enter. For some
reason, tabbing can dislodge the selection.

Don't tab away from the hotkey field and shift tab back. Go through the
whole process, including apply, then check to see if the hotkey was
accepted.
