hi Daniel,
here is some little info to give you more clearer picture.

Updating the JAWS 7.10 public beta

Freedom Scientific will release one or more updates to this public beta
during the test cycle. To download and install these updates using the new
Automatic
Updates feature, do the following:
List of 5 items
1. Start JAWS.
2. From the Help menu, choose Check for Updates.
3. JAWS searches the Internet for updates and displays a list of any that
are available to download.
4. Use the arrow keys to move through the list and press the SPACEBAR to
select the check box next to any updates that you want to download and
install.
5. When you are finished selecting updates, press ALT+I to choose the
Install button. After the update is installed, you will be required to
restart your
computer.
list end

Note: If your computer has active firewall software (such as Windows
Firewall), you may receive a warning indicating that either the FSAutoUpdate
Application
or FSAutoUpdate.exe is attempting to access the Internet. You must allow
this process to access the Internet through the firewall in order to
retrieve
any updates. If you are using Windows Firewall, you can do this by choosing
the Unblock button when the warning message displays. For other firewall
software,
refer to the product's documentation. If your organization uses a hardware
firewall that prevents you from retrieving updates, contact your network
administrator.

Updating to the final release version of JAWS 7.10

When the final version of JAWS 7.10 is released, you will not need to
download the entire JAWS package. Instead, you can use the Automatic Updates
feature
as described in the previous section.

Allan Wong

you mean, those who downloaded and installed the public beta are now using
their new automatic update capability to check and see whether the permanent
update is finally available? And he's asking why it isn'tavailable, yet? I
think I get it. Thanks.

I thought 7.1 itself is a public Beta update, not a finished, official
update. Why would you expect FS to continually provide updates to it? I
thought their intention was to put the Beta out there for people to try out,
collect comments, and then eventually release a formal update 7.1, which
would remain more or less the same for months. Is this the wrong idea?
thanks.

Hi all on list:

When I use the new auto update feature in jfw 7.1 I'm told that I have the
latest version. I guess to date there are no further updates since almost 3
weeks ago, I'm a bit surprised because I thought there would have been at
least one by now. Not complaining at all; just making an observation.
