I find this behavior when the task pain is open try hitting control + f1 to close the task pain. -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Michael Arnowitt Sent: August 29, 2009 8:00 PM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Jaws says a few words of a line then stops speech output Recently I have occasionally had the following strange Jaws problem. If I ask Jaws to speak a line or title bar, etc., it speaks the first three words or so and then abruptly stops all speech output. I can ask it to read another line, again, it will read the first few words of that line and then again stops. Sometimes closing and reopening Jaws gets the speech back going again normally, sometimes I have to restart the whole computer. I'm no techie, my intuition is maybe something else going on in the computer is demanding so much attention Jaws can't do its thing, but maybe I'm off base. Nothing seems obviously crashed. I think the video display is normal. If anyone has any ideas as to what causes something like this, or can tell me what I should do the next time it happens to better diagnose it, that would be great. Using Jaws 10 and Magic. The experience of having your Jaws speech suddenly cut off reminds me of the old TV shows like Get Smart when the person in the phone booth is frantically trying to call in critical information about the criminal and they get cut off mid-sentence, presumably because the criminals got to the phone booth at that moment ...
