Jaws And Windows Live Messenger

Hi all. I'm writing this e-mail on behalf of a friend. Today, he installed
Windows Live Messenger on his computer. My friend, who uses Jaws 6.2, is
having the following problems. When someone is typing a message to him, he
doesn't get the typing sound that you are supposed to get, and Jaws doesn't
say anything. Either something isn't configured properly, or older versions
of Jaws don't work with Windows Live Messenger. Am I way out in left field,
or is 1 of my guesses correct?
