I think that part of the slowness is given by the natural speech rate
used. I have both Eloquenceand Natural voices installed. I use Natural
voices for reading literature but prefer Eloquence (at a much higher
speech rate for normal screen reading. My system is P4 2.6Ghz and 1Gb
ram.

there are no issue but natural voices are very slow to respond to
