if all you want is software maitenance consider a good backup program.
if you have 2 hard drives ghost 2003 is a great option.
also works with recordable media on disk.

it works with software speech as long as you can boot into windows, if
wndows is corrupted then a dos boot disk is needed where jfw will not function.

consider several things about system restore in xp, first it only backups
90 days and secondly if you get a virus in it turning it off and on will
destroy your restore points.

both of the above system restore issues didnot exist in the millenium
version, so its best to have a backup.

in addition xp does not do a good job of backing up the registry either
like 98 and m e did.

another reason for backing up your system.
ghost 2003 makes it easy as pie to backup to another hard drive.

one caviot is it does not support dvd ram media.

also realize i have not tested it with dvd plus r or -r disk.
the end user issues commands in windows but it reboots the system and
performes its operation in dos, that include error checking if you enable
this feature.

with rewriteable media like a hard drive this error checking prevents no
problem.
it simply corrects it, but with plus or minus r disk it may stop the backup
if an error occurs on the media,
prompting for another disk.
the end user will not see the message if this happens because it takes
place in dos.

just wanted to explain another shortcoming for us blind folks using ghost 2003.

if you want to examine your hardware Aida32 is a free speech friendly
program for examining memory and other hardware components.

great for when you want to add memory to your system.

p s some of the thhird party utilities like norton utilities are out dated
for the xp operating system and the last time i tried the on track product
found it not speech friendly.
think on track sold it to v communications.
maybe they will enhance and make it more speech friendly.
p c world rated the v communication system security tops for this type of a
product.
