hi Yardbird, hmm, i personally dont think this can be done. 1. as maybe you might know, when every version of jaws, it will install in to a different folder, it is not install on top of current version. 2. each version of jaws will have its own "registry value", so is impossible to make the upgrade option in the help menu. there maybe many others reason that i cant think it now that cannot make the upgrade option in the help menu. I'm thinking, wouldn't it be awfully nice if in fact it could work this way? Like, once you had JFW installed, using the update feature in the Help menu could give you an option of either downloading and installing the latest update patch to your current version or, if you had an SMA credit, providing the option to download and install the upgrade, instead? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Allan Wong" <allanwkf@xxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, November 17, 2006 10:03 AM Subject: JFW 8 is here!!! hi, no, that help menu is for jaws update not for jaws upgrade. update means from jaws 7.10.452 to jaws 7.10.500 upgrade means from jaws 7.10 to jaws 8.0 Regards, Allan Wong WLM: 3-m@xxxxxxxx ----- Original Message ----- From: "joanne" <houseofmusic3345@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, November 18, 2006 01:58 Subject: Re: JFW 8 is here!!! Okay probably a dumb question, but I thought one way to get Jaws updates was to go into Jaws 7.10's help sub-menu and then enter on check for updates. When I did this it says I have the latest version. Shouldn't I be able to access Jaws 8 through 7.10's help menu? -- JFW related links: JFW homepage: http://www.freedomscientific.com/ Scripting mailing list: http://lists.the-jdh.com/listinfo.cgi/scriptography-the-jdh.com JFW List instructions: To post a message to the list, send it to jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send a message to jfw-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.
