I wonder if maybe you could buy a second sound card, like a Soundblaster Audigy or something similar, and route the speech to that sound card instead?
Sound cards are really inexpensive these days, and it is possible to route JAWS to another sound card other than the default windows one.
I know several people who have done this, all with success. Now the question is what'll happen when you plug in the headset and try to use it?
Just a thought there.

I recently purchased a Logitech Skype-ready USB headset. When I plug it into a USB port, my default audio device selections are automatically reset to the headset; I get no sound at all through my desktop speakers. I can manually re-select the Griffin
Technologies IMic USB audio device into which my speakers are plugged, and, when I do so, I again get computer generated sound, media files, and web streams playing through my desktop speaker, as I wish. But, no matter what I do, I cannot find a way to get JAWS speech to play through my desktop speakers. It plays only through the Logitech headset.

Is there any way to select which of several output sound devices JAWS will use for its Eloquence speech? I cannot find any such configuration option. And, why should JAWS, by default, direct its speech through the sound device I have configured as the default for Skype, not through the device I have configured as the system/Windows default?

Any insight will be appreciated.
