Hi Linda,Thanks for passing along your method of working with QuickBooks. It seems that in the case of both QuickBooks and Quicken, it is necessary to memorize the layout of the fields and use the JAWS cursor extensively.
I was always looking for a more screen reader-friendly accounting program back when I was training blind clients, but never found one. A couple of people on the GW Micro list say they are using Peachtree Accounting successfully with Window-Eyes, but they said the package didn't work as well with JAWS. There are demos of Peachtree Accounting available at www.peachtree.com if anyone wants to give them a test drive.

Hi Rant (grin)Ok, I didn't say more about Quickbooks because I didn't suppose most of thelist cared. So, here goes. I use Quickbooks to keep the books for the restaurant we own and for our home books because it is easier than having two packages. I am using QB 2004. I do have to use the JAWS cursor frequently. When I am in aregister, I can tab through the fields. It is true that I have to rememberwhat the fields are. It is frustrating sometimes, but I haven't found another accounting package that works any better. If someone is actually using QB and needs help, I would be glad to assist. Actual phone contact for help would probably be best.By the way, I keep learning new things about the software all the time. If I knew more about writing scripts, I would give it a try because I like QB.Someday, I am going to learn how to write scripts and such. It seems that FS hasn't officially supported Quicken since the 2003 version, and so people shouldn't expect to use later versionswithout a good memory and proficiency with the JAWS cursor. I recently saw a message on the list by someone who said they were using QuickBooks, but they didn't say how they were performing this miracle. FShas never supported QuickBooks, and Ken Gould, who wrote a scripting manual, was only able to make it work well with JAWS by creating custom scripts andframes for his particular business. My point is when someone posts a message saying that he's using a certain application with JAWS with no problems or that a certain brand of computerworks well with JFW, let's have more details. Is the application being usedwith or without scripts? What parts of the application are being used? Isit necessary to use the JAWS cursor to perform some or all functions? If you tell us that your new computer works great with JAWS, give us not only the brand but also the model number and operating system. Rant over! Thank you! You have to basically remember where you are in the register. The fields are not labeled. If you are used to using Quicken any previous version from Quicken 2003 to Quicken 2008 it should work as expected. If you remember what the keystrokes are to get things done it should work fine. You will have to use your Jaws cursor in certain places. I hope this helps. That seemed to be the case with Quicken 2007.
