The JAWS 4.51 patch contains fixes that we made in the 5.0 cycle that = were so important that we chose to release them to people with 4.51. Thus, = the people who are using 4.51 can enjoy the fixes without buying the = upgrade. As a user, I can say, though, that upgrading to the 5.0 version is well worthwhile. In 5.0, JAWS has extended its lead in supporting the = Internet in every category: we are closer to 100% compliance with the WAI User = Agent Guidelines than any other screen reader, we have added a tremendously = cool feature called "placemarkers" which make navigating around web sites you = use frequently much more efficient and the new speech and sounds manager is = a great time saver as you can use your innate ability to multitask by = hearing less text but receiving the same level of information. I am very proud of JAWS 5.0 and, as a user, really enjoy a lot of the = new features. -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On = Behalf Of keithint38@xxxxxxx Sent: Wednesday, November 26, 2003 3:12 PM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: JAWS 4.51 patch? I am very confused. I whent to the Freedomscientific.com web page, and = whent to the downloads section, chose JAWS for Windows screen reading = software, and=20 then more JAWS downloads. I found a link to download the JAWS 4.51.131 patch.=20 I did, and have now just finished installing it over 4.51.119. However, = What is a patch? I've never hurd of that turm before. This patch sounds=20 interesting.=20 Do patchs have fixes? Fix problems that may have ben found in one = version of the program? I ask, because ever sinse I installed the patch, the JAWS issues=20 I was experienceing in AOL were fixt. That is to say that I haven't=20 experienced anymore strange issues in AOL 8.0 with the JAWS patch = installed. Guess that=20 fixt my problems.=20 With regards to the list, Keith.
