Bob,

A bit more data for you and FS:

1. I reopened my test file and verified that the monitor cells were no
longer working. They did last night when I closed the file and reopened.
Strange, indeed.
2. Then I reset the monitor cells and saved again.
3. Reopened and they are working again.
4. Then closed excel completely.
5. Then killed JAWS, and restarted.
6. Then re-opened Excel and the test file.
7. Monitor cells are still reading.
8. Then I closed Excel and re-booted the computer.
9. Again opened the test file, and drat! It's still working properly -- the
monitor cells are being recognized.

Now I have no idea why my monitor cells failed to hold over last night but
can hold through a complete reboot.

One thing I did differently this morning is that I redefined the keystrokes
to set the monitor cells. I really dislike the JAWS+Shift+# combinations,
because they are a pain with my split keyboard and I use the laptop layout.
So this morning I redefined the 10 keystrokes to Ctrl+Alt+Shift+# for both
laptop and common layouts.

I used these to set my monitor cells in the test sequence above, between
steps 1 and 2.

I wonder if that has any effect?

I'll let you know if I find anything weirder than that.

Dave

Dave and list,

I went through the steps with a tech support rep at FS and she confirmed
that what I reported was in deed happening because she was able to duplicate
the problem. She escalated the problem and I have a ticket number for it.

The specific steps we took were these:

1. set the monitor cell(s)
2. type control shift M to list the monitor cell(s)
(everything is correct at this point, the list of monitor cells is
displayed)
3. Save the workbook
4. now type control shift M again and there were no monitor cells defined.

I am running XP home with service pack 3, 1.5 gig of RAM.

Just another mystery.

Bob,

Sorry to report, but it appears that monitor cells are saved for me. JAWS 11
latest version, and Excel 2007. Don't know why mine works, and yours
doesn't. I did use the keystroke JAWS + Shift + # to set them, if that helps
at all.

I am running Excel 2007 and found the following problem with JAWS 11.

Monitor cells are not saved. You can set them but after doing a save
workbook the monitor cells are no longer there.

Just FYI.
