When you plug in the USB cable, do you hear the new hardware noise through
your computer speakers.
 
You can go in to control Panel, Administrative Tasks, Computer Management
and check in disk storage to see if the device is there but not partitioned
or formatted.

Hi,
 
I have an external disk which I connect to my computer through an USB cord.
When I connect it through power/data cord it is on as I can feel the
vibration but it is not detect, I can hear click or tin noise but it is not
detected.  If I connect only through power cord again it is not detected but
I can hear the noise.  I did rescan disk but no result.  The same disk is
detected on other machines.  Please help fast.  Thank you
